The famous Chandni Chowk (Moonlit Square) market built in 1638 by Shahjahan and designed by his daughter Jahanara is still today India’s one of the largest wholesale markets. Dry fruits, spices, herbs, flowers, jewellers, shoes, papers, spicy food, traditional sweets and many more.
Starting our day with the traditional Indian breakfast of paranthas at the famous Gali Paranthewali, lined with number of shops which serve traditional Indian bread of diverse style and taste. A few varieties like Aloo Parantha, Gobhi Parantha and Matar Parantha, stuffed with potato, cauliflower and peas etc.
Coming to the sweets; Delhi has to offer you the traditional Indian ice-cream called Kulfi. The Rabdi Faluda is a must. At the Old and famous Jalebiwala you can revive yourself with the luscious plate of hot Jalebis. Annapoorna and Ghantewala are some of the oldest and most famous sweet meat shops. The Sohan Halwa Papdi, Pista Samosa and Badam Burfi are truly evil pieces of heaven on earth.
Old Delhi is beyond doubt a paradise for the Non-vegetarians. The authentic Mughal Cuisine serving a number of variety non-vegetarian dishes that would quench your taste buds. The smell of fresh fish, aromatic kebabs and fried chicken is always in the air. Vendors sell kebabs and tikkas (made of buffalo meat) wrapped in paper thin rotis called the Rumaali Rotis.
The Mutton Burrahs, Mutton Korma, Shammi Kabab and the Shahjahani Korma are the best. The traditional chicken item of the Mughals – Tandoori Chicken is still available with many new avatars of it. Butter Chicken, Reshmi Kabab, Murgh Musallam are delicious chicken, mutton and buffalo meat items, soft and juicy which melts in your mouth and sets on the tongue you will forget the world.
